Golden Anniversary

This is just to make all of you aware of the fact that this summer on June 11, (1960)Herman and Cheryl will have been married for 50 years. This is a brief excerpt from Cheryl's timeline off of the family website:

1960, June, 11
Herman and I were married and sealed in the Los Angeles Temple. In those days, there was a brief chapel ceremony before receiving one's endowment and being sealed. William Matheson, the man who blessed me as an infant, spoke at that time, which made it very special for me. After a weeks honeymoon in Santa Barbara, California, we came back to our apartment at 13521 Woodruff Ave. Apartment #3 in Bellflower where we lived for about six months. Herman had been interviewed for an engineering job and hired by North American Aviation in the Autonetics Division in Downey just before we were married, but he didn't begin work until after our honeymoon.

And your dad's version from the family website:
1960, June, 11
Cheryl's family and I went to the Los Angeles Temple for our marriage--it was an eventful day which started at 5:00 am, and concluded with a reception at cheryl's home that evening.

The Burnett Family Reunion July 17th

I was thinking that we would need to start around 11:00 am so that we have as much of the remaining time to just sit back, relax, and visit. Catch up on each others lives and let the kids get to know each other better. I think after 2 fun days of play that they'll be more comfortable with each onther on Saturday.

Beach Day July 16th

We are looking for beaches on the east coast, we're pretty sure that our beaches are safe from the oil spill for now, but we want to play it safe. Here are some beaches I'm looking into on the east coast of Florida.

Rainbow Springs Float Trip July 15th

Alright, I thought that I would make seperate blogs for each activity. That way, you can make comments about the specific things you are interested in doing. I will try to come back and edit things as I come across addtional info. So far, we need to know:
1. How much rentals cost, how long we rent for, and if they make any reccomendations for certain age groups and swimming abilities.
2. What time we need to arrive at Dragonfly - the rental company.
3. Things we need for a picnic and such.

Jenn has the most experience in thins. She and David have actually done it before!

Things To Do!!!!

So, some of us have talked and thought about fun things we could do while we are together during the family reunion. Of course, the only real reunion where we are all hoping everyone will attend is Saturday. For those who want to do these other activities here is what we have discussed.

Well, I can't get my calendar (on the computer) to work, so we'll just have to go the old fashioned way - wall calendars!!! This is what it looks like; Thursday the 15th we float down Rainbow Springs. Friday 16th the beach. I am going to head over there in a couple of Saturdays and take a look personally at some of the beaches on the east coast. See how far of a drive it is, and which one best meets our needs. I'll let you know more soon. Saturday 17th Burnett Family Reunion(@ 11:00 am?).

I would like to break it down and write out the things we'll need for each days activity. What do you think?

I am so excited!!! We are going to have a great summer!

At Rainbow Springs State Park there is a beautiful garden area with waterfalls, playground & picnic. Check out more on this website http://www.floridastateparks.org/rainbowsprings/default.cfm I think we should plan on going early in the day and try to get there so that we can enjoy the park and then head back home whenever each family wants too.

I think the beach the next day might be funner if we sleep in and don't try to make it out there until later in the day. Beaches are generally less crowded afternoon, and the suns rays are less damaging. Plus, we can always watch the sun set if we hang in there long enough for it!!

Well, that's what I've been thinking.
